Employees and associates

Without the assistance of collaborators of all religious congregations, the Society of the Sacred Heart would no longer be able to fulfill its mission. Many administrative tasks, the care of the elderly sisters, management and teaching in schools are almost exclusively provided by lay people. The formation of these collaborators is fundamental for a harmonized action with the charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart.

Some of these lay people, however, have a special status : « lay-associates ». They are women and men who are attracted to the spirituality of the Society of the Sacred Heart and wish to live in it. Where they are, in their professional or family lives, they share with the rscj their mission to discover and make known the love of the heart of Jesus.

In 2000, the Amiens General Chapter appealed to all rscj communities around the world to develop a specific association link with groups of associates. And in several provinces groups have already formed.

To be recognized as such, the associate must have subscribed to an identity charter by which he or she undertakes to a personal prayer, spiritual formation, a regular participation in the meetings of the group and «an attention brought to the needs of the world ».
